The Gallery is active

Images of  the REME Field Gun Crew over the years are now being uploaded to the gallery page.

It is a work in progress as there are many, many images to upload but at present the gallery is complete up to 2009.

The images come courtesy of digitalequine, and are contactable using the information at the bottom of each gallery page.

In 2014 the photography for the REME Crew at Collingwood was handled by Sheer Gold Photography, the images are fantastic and will be uploaded in due course.  To be kept up to date, please follow the blog to get regular updates and keep it shared on facebook.  Buttons on the right>>>>

Images are coming

If you have been viewing the blog, then you may well have noticed that the gallery page is currently empty.  That is soon to change, and all being well there will be galleries to view dating back to the very first win at HMS Collingwood in 2005.

As well as the multitude of user images, Claire over at gunteam, the Abbey Wood Field Gun Crew, has been kind enough to allow us use of their photos.

The galleries will be extensive and will grow over time so please subscribe and follow, and share the blog on Facebook.

The more you can share this site, the more chance we have of reaching out to all the past members of 7 Air Assault Bn REME Field Gun.

Collingwood Open Day

On Saturday 6 June 2015 the most spectacular event will take place at HMS Collingwood, Fareham, Hampshire when the establishment opens it gates for the annual Open Day, sponsored by 8 Wealth Management featuring the Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity (RNRMC) Field Gun Competition.

The Field Gun competition will feature crews from across the UK and as far afield as Gibraltar competing for the coveted Brickwoods Trophy. The current champions, 7 AA Bn REME will do all they can to hold on to the coveted title.

The competition is fast and furious and requires 18-man teams to run, dismantle, reassemble and fire the gun in the shortest possible time, traditionally in heats of 6 crews at a time.

Strength, stamina, and team work are essential in this challenge, and the crews begin the physical training this month, training with the guns in April.

During the Open Day there will be attractions, entertainment and displays designed to capture the imagination of everyone from 8 to 80.

Attractions will include displays from the Royal Navy Raiders Parachute Display team, the Tigers Motorcycle Display Team, plus extensive recruitment zone with interactive activities and much more.
There will also be a Ship Open to Visitors area where you will be wowed with some of the training equipment used by today’s Navy.

Plus experience Royal Navy training first hand in the Bridge Simulator which will allow you to simulate taking a ship into harbour.

The gates will open at 0930, there will be free parking, free buses from the local area and FREE FUN FAIR – all you need is to come along and join us for this amazing day, happy in the knowledge that once you pay your entrance free all attractions and entertainment is FREE!

The Official British Army Blog

Below you will find the link to the British Armys Blog; Soldiers and Officers of the British Army in their own words.

The content is massive, and you will find most major units have their own categories so you can gain a deep insight into a particular regiment, corps or battalion.  7 AA Bn REME have not yet been featured, so keep your eyes peeled for upcoming content relating especially to the Field Gun.

They do have a REME specific page, which is linked below:

Toolkit Issues

The second week of training begins, and with it comes a niggle. A niggle in the trouser department, a niggle that causes much pain and discomfort for me but much joy and general p*** taking from the No 1 Trainer! As is tradition with field gun unless you have been shot in the head, or dismembered you must keep on running. But No1 I must say, my man package needs due care, I'm not getting any younger after all, and I do have a younger chick to satisfy for all of 30 seconds every now and then.

So whilst the remainder of the crew are in the gym getting hammered, I'm sat here being a keyboard warrior with an ice pack on my left nut(a very big ice pack!)
